AI-powered, sprint-ready senior engineers
Performance Guarantee
avg tenure
Most traditional resume-forwarding IT staff augmentation companies work like this: the agency takes your budget, sends you three CVs, says trust us, and the work happens somewhere you cannot see. The augmented engineer might be senior, or might be a junior with their LinkedIn cleaned up. You find out in week four. That is the risk of unvetted offshore staff augmentation. We built Unified as the opposite of that experience. Every artifact a traditional IT staff augmentation vendor hides is visible to you from Day 1, productized as the Performance Wrapper.
Not outsourcing. Not resume dumping. IT staff augmentation that gives you senior, AI-powered engineers who work inside your team, under your control, with Unified accountable for performance. Greater client control, flexible scaling, direct integration with your existing engineering rituals.
"Trust us. We have the right engineer for you. Sign here and we will get started."
"Here is the engineer. Here is their resume. Here is the vetting trail. Here is the AI stack. Here is the contract."
What most staff aug looks like: Generic profiles. No LinkedIn. No way to verify what you are paying for.
What you get with Unified: Resume + LinkedIn + vetting scorecards shared before you sign.
What most staff aug looks like: The engineer who interviewed is not always the engineer who ships.
What you get with Unified: The engineer who interviewed is the engineer who ships. Substitutions prohibited.
What most staff aug looks like: Weekly status reports written by an account manager who has not opened the code.
What you get with Unified: Weekly Pulse Checks with documented ratings on both sides. You see them live.
What most staff aug looks like: "AI capabilities" mentioned in slide 12 of a deck. Never seen in practice.
What you get with Unified: Hybrid Intelligence stack on every workstation. Velocity dashboard visible to you weekly.
What most staff aug looks like: No performance guarantee. Or one that voids when you actually try to invoke it.
What you get with Unified: 30-day Performance Guarantee with replacement + credit. Conditions defined upfront.
What most staff aug looks like: Exit clause buried. Three-month minimums. Quiet upsells. Hostage pricing.
What you get with Unified: 30-day exit clause active from kickoff. IP yours Day 1. No hostage pricing. Ever.
If you have already led an engineering team through one or two outsourced IT talent augmentation engagements, you know the patterns by now. The five rows below are the sentences we hear most often from CTOs in the first discovery call. Each is matched to a Unified move and the outcome we have documented across the last 40 engagements. No abstractions, no aspirational language.
Your pain
"I need a sprint-ready senior React engineer next week. Hiring will take 3 months."
Unified’s move
Tier 1 ready-to-deploy bench. Vetted, sprint-ready senior engineers with skill matrices, scorecards, and clean availability. Resume shared in 48 hours. Interview in days 2 to 4. First commit in 5 to 6 business days.
Outcome you can defend
"Engineer shipped to first commit in 6 days. We did not stop the sprint."
Your pain
"The last vendor switched our developer for a junior on month 3."
Unified’s move
Contractually named dedicated IT resources. Resume + LinkedIn shared before signing. Unilateral substitutions prohibited. The engineer who interviewed is the engineer who ships. Average tenure on a Unified placement: 24+ months.
Outcome you can defend
"Same engineer for 18 months. Domain knowledge compounded instead of resetting."
Your pain
"How do I know they will actually perform? I have been promised this before."
Unified’s move
30-day Performance Guarantee with D7/14/21/30 Pulse Checks. Both sides rate the engagement weekly. Failure triggers a replacement at no cost plus credit for the time lost. Voids only if you ghost the wrapper.
Outcome you can defend
"Safety net visible in the contract. Legal signed in the first review."
Your pain
"AI is changing engineering. Most vendors are still selling 2022 dev models."
Unified’s move
Every engineer ships AI-augmented. Cursor or Claude Code as the daily IDE. AI code review on every PR. Internal RAG over your codebase. AI documentation. Velocity dashboard published weekly. 48 to 52 effective hours of output per week.
Outcome you can defend
"Engineer shipping at 2.4x our previous baseline. Bug escape measurably down."
Your pain
"I want a partner who cares about my product, not a vendor who counts hours."
Unified’s move
Embedded culture, not transactional. Your engineer says "we" not "you". Joins your Slack, your standups, your sprint cadence. Backed by a Unified Engagement Director outside the engineering line. Quarterly C-suite reviews.
Outcome you can defend
"They show up like a hire, not a contractor. CFO and CTO both renewed."
Resource augmentation, team augmentation, plug-and-play talent, however you name it, is not a fixed product. It is a spectrum, calibrated to where you are in your roadmap. Most Unified engagements start as a sprint-ready engineer or a two-person mini squad. As the relationship compounds, many evolve into long-term IT augmentation services, then into a dedicated pod with its own architect, then into a fully managed delivery team. The path is intentional. You never have to switch vendors to scale up.
Model 01 · Entry
1 to 3 engineers · 1 to 6 months
Rapid ramp-up, pilot MVP, project-based staffing bridging an internal hiring delay. The engineer or small group reports directly through your structure, follows your sprint cadence, and exits cleanly when the need ends. Best suited for short-term projects without long-term commitments.
Model 02 · Compound
2 to 5 engineers · 6+ months
Roadmap-linked product development. Engineers integrate deeply with your team, learn your domain, and compound their value across quarters. May evolve into a dedicated pod as scope grows.
Model 03 · Scale
3 to 10 engineers · structured team
Cross-functional micro-team: frontend, backend, QA, DevOps. Self-contained pod with a senior architect. Owns a product vertical end-to-end. Co-managed with your engineering leadership.
Model 04 · Global
Offshore + Nearshore + Onsite
Global delivery architecture. Offshore developer augmentation, nearshore developer staffing, and onsite leadership where compliance or physical collaboration demands it. Remote IT staff augmentation services custom-blended to your geography and risk profile.
Most clients start at Model 01 with a single engineer. Within 12 months, 64 percent have evolved to Model 02 or beyond. The Talent Match Blueprint identifies your starting model and the natural path forward.
Speed is a function of preparation. Tier 1 engineers are pre-vetted developers, on-bench, and contract-ready, deployable within a week. Tier 2 are passive candidates with one or two pending vetting steps, deployable in two weeks. Tier 3 are niche specialists (AI/ML, embedded, SAP, DuckCreek) sourced for high-margin, mission-critical roles. The Talent Match Blueprint tells you which tier your role maps to before you commit a single dollar.
Most IT staff augmentation vendors do one of these jobs poorly. We do both, contractually. Our Vetting and Screening is the 6-stage selection pipeline that less than 4% of applicants clear. The Vault is the Governance Shield: ISO 27001, SOC 2 in progress, NIST CSF mapped, device hardening, RBAC, audit logs, code escrow, GDPR + HIPAA-aligned data handling. Below is what every CTO and VP of Engineering should expect to see, in writing, before signing.
Every engineer in the Unified pool has cleared all 6 stages before they reach your inbox. We measure technical depth, soft skills, communication fluency, and embedded culture to find the right-fit on-demand talent for you. The bar is set against the senior in-house engineer your CFO would have hired in 4 months. We do not lower it.
ATS-scored against role, stack, seniority, location. Internal screener reviews top 30%. Cuts to 10% who advance to technical evaluation.
MCQs, coding tasks, or project assignments. Live-coded under proctored sessions where seniority warrants. Pass bar set at 75th percentile of the talent pool.
90-minute deep-dive with a Unified senior architect. Code reviews, system design, debugging from logs. Tests architectural judgment, not just syntactical recall.
The Mock Client session: a Unified engagement director role-plays a difficult client. The candidate must defend an estimate, explain a delay, handle an unreasonable demand. Communication fluency tested under pressure.
Last 3 employers verified independently. Two professional references contacted. Identity, education, and any security-sensitive claims verified through third-party providers.
Skill capability matrix scored 1-10 per competency. Bench / Vendor Lead + Sales POC sign off on client-readiness. Less than 4% of applicants reach this stage.
THE FUNNEL, LAST 12 MONTHS
For every 100 applicants who reach the Unified pre-screen, 35 pass the resume bar, 18 clear the technical assessment, 9 survive the L1 panel, 6 pass the L2 Mock Client, 5 clear background checks, and fewer than 4 reach Tier 1 client-readiness. The number you compare against is the senior in-house engineer your CFO refused to fund at $250K. Same bar. Different economics.

Most vendors will list SOC 2 and call it a day. That is not a security product. The Governance Shield is the full enforceable layer: certified controls, technical controls, contractual controls, and operational controls. Every clause is written into the MSA. Every control has a named owner. Every breach has a 48-hour notification SLA.

Three onboarding phases between signing the SoW and your engineer's first commit. Each phase has named deliverables, fixed cadence, and a Unified-owned playbook running in the background. Day 0 to Day 3 average is 9 business days for Tier 1, 11 for Tier 2. Some clients ship a Day 0 commit within 24 hours of access.
Before billing starts. We frame the Access Sprint as a prerequisite to the 30-day guarantee. If you cannot grant access, the guarantee cannot trigger. Both sides have skin in the game from minus-3.
Access Checklist

Not an intro. A contract for how we work when you hire our IT professionals. Communication cadence agreed, escalation paths set, first 2 weeks of deliverables defined. Success metrics aligned to your sprint, not ours.
What happens
Artifact you keep
Communication Charter + first-sprint definition of done.
You get full visibility on Day 2. Timesheets, AI usage logs, Pulse Check calendar, skill matrix dashboard. The Day 0 Commit (a small, non-critical PR within 24 hours) proves the environment works and sets baseline velocity.

Every tech staff augmentation engagement runs inside the Performance Wrapper. Unified's productized oversight layer turns the 30-day guarantee for dedicated IT resources from a marketing slogan into a contractual mechanism. We do the check-ins, not you. We document the evidence trail. We surface risk before Day 29. If the engineer is not performing, we replace and credit. If you ghost the check-ins, the guarantee voids. Skin in the game on both sides.
Early warning
30-min call: How is onboarding? Any access blockers? Any cultural friction? Engineer's blockers documented. Surface mismatches early so we can fix them in Week 2 rather than Day 29.

"Performance" is not vibes. It is defined in the Day 1 Definition of Done: tickets to ship, PRs to raise, sprint attendance, response SLAs. Measured weekly. Documented in the dashboard. Reviewed at D7, D14, D21, D30.
Replacement candidate sourced within 5 business days. Next engineer ramps with a fresh 30-day clock. We credit your sprint loss against the next month's invoice. No reset paperwork. No re-negotiation.
Access not granted within 3 business days of start No reporting manager / Technical POC assigned Pulse Check missed without rescheduling Concerns raised after 5 business days of incident Most IT staff augmentation firms in 2026 use AI quietly, pretend they do not, and have no policy when something leaks. Unified is the opposite. AI is productized through Hybrid Intelligence. This includes three layers of AI augmentation deployed for every engineer, with disclosure, audit trails, and a human approving every change. 48-52 effective hours of output per week. AI accelerates the work; senior engineers approve every commit.
Boilerplate, CRUD endpoints, test scaffolds, API clients. Automated security and performance checks before human review. Docstrings, API specs, and architecture diagrams generated alongside code.
Engineers spend 60% of their time on business logic, not setup.
Internal RAG over your codebase from Day 3. Ticket triage pre-categorized by complexity and dependencies. Meeting summaries auto-drafted from client calls with human validation.
Onboarding compressed from 3 days to 1. Fewer "I didn't know that" surprises.
Daily work logs auto-drafted from Git commits + Jira updates (human-edited before sending). AI flags risk patterns: blocked over 2 hours, PR idle over 24 hours. Pre-deployment quality gates run automatically.
You get risk alerts proactively, not surprises at the 30-day mark.

The 30-day Performance Guarantee is the strongest commitment in our contract and the single most-cited reason CTOs say yes after the discovery call. It is also the clause that filters out the wrong-fit clients. Every condition is written upfront. Every checkpoint is pre-scheduled. The guarantee is enforceable because the Performance Wrapper produces the evidence trail. It is not a marketing claim. It is contract language.
The recommended option for product teams that want a real partner. Includes the complete Performance Wrapper, all 4 Pulse Checks, AI velocity dashboard, weekly timesheets, escalation routing, and the 30-day Performance Guarantee.

Hiring cycle is 3 months, sprint commitment is in 3 weeks.
Tier 1 engineer ramped in a week. You did not stop the sprint.
RAG, agents, fine-tuning, evals, MLOps. Hardest tier to hire.
Tier 3 specialist sourced in 2 to 3 weeks with proven production track record.
Backlog growing, sprints overflowing, team burning.
Two engineers added in a fortnight, ship rate back to forecast inside one sprint.
Current vendor rotated your senior off for a junior. Swap them quietly.
Knowledge transfer handled. Velocity recovers in days, not months.
Your team logs off, Unified engineer picks up.
PRs reviewed overnight, tickets closed before US morning. Engineering clock runs 24 hours.
Single-vendor risk worries the board. Add a second source for redundancy, capacity, or comparison.

Q3 is twice Q2. Hiring permanent staff makes no sense.
Three engineers for 90 days, ramp down or extend on outcome.
App roadmap moving, in-house team is web-only.
Dedicated mobile engineer ramped onto your repo, shipping to App Store inside a quarter.
Regression coverage breaking, release gate sliding.
Senior QA with AI-augmented test generation. Coverage and release confidence rebuilt.
CI/CD slipping, observability gaps, incident response thin.
Senior DevOps with MLOps capability ramped onto your platform layer.
AI initiatives blocked because data is not ready.
Senior data engineer (Snowflake / Databricks / dbt) ramps the foundation layer.
Design system fraying, accessibility debt mounting, performance budgets blown.
UX-aware senior FE engineer rebuilds the foundation.
We are stack-agnostic. We match your tech, your cloud, your tooling. IT staff augmentation reaches your CFO's desk as a line item and your Legal team's desk as a contract. Below are the six fears we hear in every diligence cycle. Each one is answered with a clause that is contractually active from Day 1, not aspirationally promised. The bundle is called the Governance Shield. Six clauses below, plus the full operational layer described in Section 5.
Shield: Resumes and LinkedIn shared before signing. You interview every candidate. Engineer named in the SOW is the engineer who ships. Substitutions prohibited without written approval. Bait-and-switch invalid.
Shield: Performance Wrapper produces a continuous evidence trail. Pulse Check ratings every 7 days. AI velocity dashboard published weekly. Documented escalation path. Quality SLA breach triggers replacement + credit.
Shield: 30-day exit clause active from kickoff. No claw-back, no termination penalties, no minimum commitment beyond the current sprint. Quality SLA breach triggers no-fault exit. Legal team has signed off.
Shield: IP yours from Day 1, Work-for-Hire clause in the MSA. Code escrow available. ISO 27001 certified. SOC 2 in progress. Segregated repo access, NDA and confidentiality agreement per engineer. GDPR + HIPAA-aligned. No retained background IP.
Shield: Backfill guarantee 10 to 15 days. Mandatory overlap with successor before roll-off. Living documentation in your internal RAG. Service Transition Agreement covers knowledge handover. Code escrow on request.
Shield: Mutual non-solicitation clause for the engagement duration plus 12 months. Vendor MSAs flow-down the same restriction. Conversion path available if you want to hire the engineer, with documented buyout terms.
Unified does not publish hourly rate cards because rate cards optimize for the rate, not the outcome. If you are researching the cost of IT staff augmentation, our IT staff augmentation pricing depends on engineer seniority, tier, AI tooling, and roadmap fit. The free Talent Match Blueprint produces a precise cost band before you commit. Below are the structural parameters every engagement scopes against.
TEAM SIZE
1 — 5 engineers
Typical: 1 to 3. Smallest is a single embedded engineer. Above 5 we recommend structuring as a Dedicated Pod (see Section 03), which carries its own architect and shared accountability.
ENGAGEMENT LENGTH
1 month — 3+ years
Minimum 1 month. Typical: 6 to 18 months. Many engagements compound into multi-year embedded placements. 30-day exit clause active throughout. Backfill guaranteed on roll-off.
SENIORITY MIX
70% senior+
70 percent of every placement is senior or above (8+ years). 20 percent mid-level (4 to 8 years). 10 percent promising junior on supervised tracks (under 4 years). Industry body shop average: 30 percent senior or below.
COST BAND
~50% of US boutique
Senior, AI-augmented engineers at approximately 50 percent of comparable US premium boutique rates. Lower than US in-house total comp. Higher than offshore body shops. The economics that actually close.
IT staff augmentation is an engagement model in which a partner deploys one or more senior engineers directly into your existing team. The engineer reports through your structure, follows your sprint cadence, uses your tools, and integrates like an internal hire. Unified embeds AI-augmented, sprint-ready senior engineers averaging 8+ years of experience, deployed in 5 to 15 business days, with resumes shared before signing and a 30-day Performance Guarantee written into the contract.
Tier 1 (ready-to-deploy from the bench): 2 to 6 business days. Tier 2 (semi-ready, vetted but with pending steps): 7 to 14 business days. Tier 3 (niche specialists, AI/ML, embedded, SAP, DuckCreek): 15 to 30 business days. The Talent Match Blueprint, returned within 48 hours of your discovery call, names the tier, the TAT, and the cost band before you commit.
If the engineer does not perform within the first 30 days, Unified replaces them at no cost and credits you for the time lost. The guarantee runs across four Pulse Checks (Day 7, Day 14, Day 21, Day 30), each with documented client and engineer ratings. The guarantee remains active only when the client provides onboarding access within 3 business days, assigns a reporting manager, and engages with the scheduled Pulse Checks. Voids if the client ghosts the wrapper.
Glass Box means every artifact a traditional resume-forwarding staff augmentation vendor hides is visible to you from Day 1: the engineer's resume and LinkedIn, the vetting scorecards, the weekly timesheet, the AI tooling stack, the Pulse Check ratings, the Performance Wrapper dashboard, and the escalation queue. The opposite of Black Box, where you hand over a budget and pray. Glass Box is a productized commitment, not a marketing slogan.
Every Unified engineer passes a six-stage selection pipeline: (1) Resume + Fitment Score, (2) Technical Evaluation (HackerRank, DevSkiller, or custom tasks), (3) L1 Tech Interview, (4) L2 Managerial + Soft Skills, (5) Background and Reference Check, (6) Skill Capability Matrix and Client Readiness Approval. Less than 2 percent of applicants reach the ready-to-deploy bench. Every step is logged and shared with you upon request.
IT staff augmentation deploys one or a small group of engineers (typically 1 to 5) into your existing team in 5 to 15 days. They report through your structure, follow your cadence, and act as embedded individual contributors. A dedicated team is a 6 to 15 person pod with its own senior architect, QA, and DevOps, ramped in 21 days, often managed jointly with Unified. Many engagements start as IT staff augmentation and evolve naturally into a dedicated team as the relationship scales.
Every Unified engineer ships with the Hybrid Intelligence stack: Cursor or Claude Code as the daily IDE, AI code review on every pull request, AI-generated test coverage, internal RAG over your codebase, AI documentation generation, and AI-augmented status reporting. We measure 48 to 52 effective hours of output per week. The Glass Box AI Policy is contractually transparent. Senior engineers approve every change.
The Governance Shield includes ten contractual and operational controls: IP yours from Day 1, Work-for-Hire clause, Mutual NDA + Vendor flow-down NDAs, GDPR-aligned data handling, 48-hour Data Breach Notification, Role-Based Access Control, VPN + secured environments, audit trails, device hardening with MDM, ISO 27001 alignment (SOC 2 in progress), and Client-Controlled Git and cloud access. Code escrow available on request.
Tell us about the role, the timeline, and the engineering pain you are trying to close. The Engagement Director, the same person who will own your engagement, sends back a Free Talent Match Blueprint with named seniority, tier, ramp timeline, and a precise cost band. Typically within 48 hours.
NDA on request. The Talent Match Blueprint is yours to keep, with or without engagement. No follow-up sales call required.
